John was an excellent DJ. He worked closely with us to sculpt the exact experience we were looking for, and was extremely accommodating to our wants and needs. He has a strong understanding of what works and what doesn't for a given event, and as such was able to help guide our choices--resulting in an overall experience that was a MUCH better than what it would've been had we been left to our own devices. In addition, I was wholeheartedly impressed with the attentiveness he paid to the changing moods/desires of the crowd at the event itself. While sticking primarily to the previously-planned set list, he also exhibited an excellent ability to deviate as/when needed. He constantly kept in touch with us throughout the night to ensure the music was still living up to our expectations, and was highly amenable to any changes that arose (something I VERY much appreciated, after many DJ-does-whatever-they-want experiences I've had in the past). Overall, I couldn't have asked for a better DJ. I have absolutely no complaints about John, and only praise to offer. Anyone who has ever thrown any major event (be it wedding or otherwise), knows that the music is a VERY important piece of the puzzle. Great music can make an event incredible, while bad music can kill it completely. Because of this, I hate leaving DJ selection up to chance, and I would caution others against doing so as well. On that note, I would recommend John Vavrin highly.

I wanted to tell you personally once more that Lisa and I had an excellent time at the wedding, and we absolutely loved having you as our DJ. I've had many horrible experiences in the past with other DJs, and you really were the complete opposite. Most DJs seem to have their own idea of what they want to do, or want to just be given a set list ahead of time and play it without deviation. The fact that you paid such close attention to our needs/wants (while also directing us in areas where, due to experience, you really do know best) really sets you apart from other DJs. Even just the fact that you made the effort to keep in touch with me throughout the evening in order to help guide things along made a huge difference. You have an excellent understanding of music and atmosphere, and in all honesty the night would not have been the same (not nearly as much fun) had your skills been absent. It was a pleasure to work with you, and I can guarantee you that if I'm ever in need of a DJ again when in MN you'll be the first I call.
I wish you the best of luck in your future endeavors. If you keep doing what you do, I don't think you'll have any problem winning the praise of those you work with in the future.

We had DJ Vavrin for our outdoor wedding labor day weekend and he was amazing! He provided the mic for the ceremony, ceremony music, cocktail hour and reception music, and music and lights for the dance floor. We had a great time and all of the guests loved the nice mix of music he played. He was great about taking requests too- we had guests requesting songs all night. I would highly recommend him as an affordable and fun DJ!

We had John and were so happy. We found them online sometimes that can be nerve racking not having a 'friend' recommendation; however I would assure you these guys are legit and amazing to work with. John arrived early, saved the venue with Dinner music (the venue's piped in music wasn't working), he agreed to stay longer AND...he was so accommodating. Our wedding attendees were not big dancers (we knew that prior to) and when the Football Bowl Game was turned on the dance floor dwindled. However John partied with those still dancing and played their requests and those watching the game still enjoyed the party atmosphere/sounds. It was perfect for us.
